Yoga, what’s all the fuss about…What does Yoga mean to you?

Why do you step on the yoga mat?

Does yoga even need to involve a yoga mat?

The word Yoga means union, a union of mind body and soul, but was, does that even mean, what are we all searching for?

So many questions….Here goes, let me share my thoughts…Firstly let me be clear, I’m not the biggest fan of labels, for those that don’t know me, but what I am a huge fan of is feeling.

Life is not always easy; life throws its fair share of highs and lows; life can be rushed, complicated, messy and stressful, and don’t we know it.

But your Yoga Practice Doesn’t Have To Be, your Yoga practice is a time to connect into your heart and say yes to the moment, it’s a time to put your worries to one side, and to high five your beautiful self, it’s a time to strip back the layers, leave your ego at the door and arrive home in your heart.

Life doesn’t have to be complicated to; It’s all about balance, some days we might enjoy an Indian take away with a bottle of fine red wine, some days a hearty buddha bowl and lean green smoothie, who’s to say what’s right or wrong, somedays you might want to stand upside on your hands and bend yourself like a pretzel, and some days you might want just to lie back in savasana (corpse pose) and surrender.

So what I am saying is Yoga is for everyone, yoga is much more than fancy looking poses on a yoga mat, yoga is a way of life, its a feeling, right there in the centre of your heart, love, peace, compassion and acceptance.

We all do Yoga, maybe without even realising. We all live life,Yoga, Life, Life, Yoga !

It’s about embracing you the real authentic self, not who you are told you should be, not the labels placed upon you, but what lies deep beneath all of that. It is all about feeling and knowing.

It can be a messy journey, and life will always throw you a curveball, but once we start to embrace the journey, our lives can change in magical and mysterious ways.

I’m Mimi btw, and I have been on an interesting, crazy, challenging journey, especially since I first stepped on the Yoga mat in 2010.

I was known as an ‘ashtangi’ for 6 years, a strong and very disciplined yoga practice, and I loved every moment.

After many years of self-reflection, self-love and digging deeper into my true essence to really start to understand what my life was all about…And Yoga led me to this moment, writing this mini blog about my life, my practice, my story, deep in thought, a journey of discovery, what’s it all about?…I’m me, Mimi, I’m alive right now, and that’s what counts.

I now have a very different outlook on life, some days I asana (that the Yoga poses) some days a dance, some days a do a HIIT workout, somedays I work-in, and some days I do absolutely frick all.

But I now spend most of my life being, being me, we are human beings, not human doings.

So I invite you to come and join me in this 90 LIVE pop-up, take time to just be , to embrace the journey and feel so fully alive that the world looks different,
Newly born and vibrant, just for now.

Inspiring words by Danna Fauld’s Just for Now,

Without asking how, let yourself sink into stillness.

Just for now, lay down the weight
You so patiently bear upon your shoulders.
Feel the earth receive you,
And the infinite expanse of the sky grow even wider,
as your awareness reaches up to meet it.
Just for now,
Allow a wave of breath to enliven your experience.
Breathe out whatever blocks you from the truth.
Just for now,
Be boundless, free, with awakened energy tingling in your hands and feet.
Drink in the possibility
Of being who and what you really are –
So fully alive that the world looks different,
Newly born and vibrant, just for now.

Love Mimi xxx
