Firstly, let me explain why I am so passionate about this wonderful healing science and then we can dig a bit deeper into what the practice is all about.
I have practiced yoga for around 17 years now and although all yoga is very transformative, Kundalini yoga ‘actually’ transformed me and my life in many ways. Kundalini yoga is perfect for those who don’t have much time because the results are often quite instant. It is also perfect for those wanting to take it a little deeper and bring the thousands of year old sacred practice into daily life.
My personal dedication and love of the practice took me from alcoholism to non alcoholism, from addiction to appreciation, from illness to health, from depressed to happy, from anxious to calm and from not knowing my purpose to knowing my purpose.
I describe my experience with kundalini yoga as:

From the moment I was introduced to the practice, I fell in love with it. My life became more magical, I started to see from a much more vibrant and joyful perspective. Things started to slot into place.
Things I used to suffer with such as anxiety, depression and low self esteem started to shift and move towards clarity, happiness and confidence almost like magic.
I felt it may be possible after all to live an extraordinary life and to be healthy, happy and whole whilst living in the material world.
Kundalini is our life force energy, our burning desire, our inner light.
Everybody has this, we just spend years and years blocking it off, suffocating it with limiting beliefs, trauma, societal expectations, material world needs, patterns of behaviour, abuse, the holding in of stress, emotion and all those things that make us human adults in this world.
How Kundalini awakens our true authentic nature
All children are born inquisitive, psychic, spiritual and open as a book.
Children breathe correctly and freely, their bodies are strong and flexible, their brains aren’t affected with layers and layers of distortion like an adult is.
They don’t have blocks upon blocks of un-dealt with emotion and trauma. They are free, they are simple.
But as we grow older the world tells us how we should be, what we should do, how we should act, what we should wear, how we should look, what career we should have and lifestyle we should lead.
We lose our MAGIC, our inner fire and our pranic energy (life force) KUNDALINI becomes hidden and blocked.
We forget how to play and dance without caring what people think.
We forget how to be present and accept things as they are.
We think we must be different to what we are and that we are not good enough in this way.
Think of kundalini yoga as a tool to bring you back to who you really are.
What benefits will you get from practicing kundalini yoga?
Practicing kundalini yoga on a regular basis helps you lose the critique that tells you you’re not good enough, lose the addictions you have created to stop yourself from facing the truth, lose the distorted image you have of yourself, lose the idea you are not good enough, lose the physical tension you have built up over the years, lose the layers of trauma you decided to keep as a souvenir only to hold you back from the experience of life.
Kundalini yoga is a beautiful blend between really physical and really spiritual. It’s a powerful practice combining physical movement, breathing techniques (pranayama) meditation, mantra, yantra and mudra to bring us back to our true authentic selves.
Expect to turn up to a kundalini yoga class and be mentally and physically challenged. Often we work vigorously into the body such as the core, spine and nervous system to build strength, resilience and stamina. As well as this we aim to steady the mind and come back to the heart space by practicing unconditional love and removing fear.
The power of kundalini yoga comes from its ability to change the mind through using the body by passing mental chatter.
